7 Montana Spots Where You’re Most Likely To See A Bear

When I first moved to Montana, my mother and my aunt brought along two of my cousins, and we traveled to Glacier National Park.

All my aunt wanted to see during our trip was a bear; sadly, she didn't get that chance, but depending on where you travel under the Big Sky, meeting a bear in the wild is pretty easy.

Montana Is Bear Country

Montanans love to get out and enjoy the outdoors. Heck, access to it is half the reason we're all OK with being paid lower wages.

The thing is we don't just share the outdoors with other humans but with plenty of wildlife. Some of these animals pose a serious threat to our safety.

The largest and most formidable of all wild animals is the bear, specifically the magnificent grizzly bear.

Where To See Bears Under The Big Sky

So if you, like my aunt, want to see bears, well, you're in luck, as we've got plenty of them in the Treasure State.

We don't advise going out LOOKING for them, however, as these locations are not refugee locations.

These 7 following places are places that you need to be BEAR AWARE, meaning you should bring with you bear spray, make as much noise as you can, and lock up all food and trash.

Top 7 Places with Highest Risk of Bear Encounters in Montana

It's important to note that while certain areas have higher bear populations, bears are wild animals with unpredictable behaviors. Encounters can happen anywhere in bear country, and the best defense is always preparedness: carrying bear spray, making noise while hiking, and securing food and trash.
