Headlines Claim “The Best Place To Call Home”

Every time you go online, there’s a headline saying “THIS is the best place to call home.”

Sure, they might have a point, but when it comes to Montana, “best” is pretty subjective.

Helena Named Top Montana Town for 2026

Recently, U.S. News & World Report named Helena the top Montana town to live in for 2026.

I love the capital city, and its downtown walking mall is one of my favorite spots in the state.

But here’s the thing about “best": what works for one person might not work for another.

Why “Best” Is Subjective

Maybe it’s not just about being close to the outdoors.

For some, it’s access to hospitals or a community that sticks together.

Others might prefer peace, quiet, and seclusion, making a smaller town the perfect fit.

Montana Towns You’ll Actually Love

Even though Helena topped Montana’s list, it only ranked #270 nationwide, which shows just how subjective these rankings really are.

Honestly, we don’t need outsiders telling us which towns are the best; Montana has plenty, but we all have our favorites.
