The Best Pics of the Escaped Elephant on Butte’s Streets
BUTTE, MT - Today is a special day in Butte's history. Though that may be a big, bold claim since it has just happened very recently, the sheer hilariousness (and somewhat sadness) that comes from the madness of the event surely will be something all of us here in Butte, MT, will remember for a very long time. Especially for those who were around and there to see it firsthand.
What could've happened that I would make such a bolstering claim? Well, today was the Jordan World Circus: the event you've been seeing flyers and brochures for all over town for the past couple of weeks. One of their circus animals, a 7000 pound elephant who was visiting with a traveling circus, apparently found the allure of Butte too irresistible to ignore and made a break for it. The elephant was seen hustling and bustling down the streets on Harrison, with seemingly its trainer running not far behind. Quite the sight to see.
What's that? You weren't around to see it for yourself? Well one of the perks of living in 2024 is that everyone has a phone with a nice, shiny camera—perfect for taking photos and videos of the incident. I've compiled what we have out there so far and will update as more and more people submit their photos and videos. If you have something to submit yourself, feel free to send an email over to devon.brosnan@townsquaremedia.com!
Let's take a look at the best photos of Butte's now-resident elephant.
