People are still talking about the (dare we say) historic earthquake that rocked Black Eagle and Great Falls yesterday... and rightfully so!

It's not something our brains are accustomed to and processing it in real time can be a frightening experience.

Planning For an Earthquake

Once the ground stopped shaking, we, like a lot of people, began to reflect on what in the world had just happened... and what we should do if we encounter another one.

I had suggested to my wife that if that were to happen again that we should immediately head outside to our truck.

"Um, why?" she asked.

"Because we'll be out of a building, have something over our head if something falls outside, and if we need to, we can drive away," I reasoned.

Needless to say, I didn't get praise or compliments for my "survival skills." Instead, I got a simple look of doubt... hey... marriage, am I right?

How To Stay Safe In An Earthquake

Thankfully, I'm not the one in charge of any earthquake safety protocols outside of my home, but I'm even more grateful for the experts who do know what to do in the event of an earthquake.

For us common folk, there's no telling when we'll experience another earthquake or aftershock outside of the information we're given by experts.

So, it's probably best to keep these tips handy or remember them for when or if that time comes again.
