Over the weekend, it was quite an adventure at the Laird household.

Following an evening on the town with a few friends, we returned home Saturday night to a seemingly normal household.

That was until my wife decided to grab some deer sausage out of the freezer for breakfast the following day.

Lo and behold, the freezer was off, and needless to say, there was quite a mess.

Troubleshooting A Freezer

Before tackling the mess, I immediately went to the breaker box to see if anything was haywire with our electrical system.

Everything seemed fine, so I began troubleshooting everything I could think of that may have gone wrong.

Initially, I thought the freezer had died, but it turns out the GFI outlet had tripped.

I still do not know what caused it; everything seems to work now.

But needless to say, it was quite a disaster.

I'm trying not to think of how many pounds of meat were wasted in the incident.

Wi-Fi Freezer Thermometer

I'm not sure why it never occurred to me before this incident to look into some monitoring system for our freezer.

After all, it seems there's some sort of technology to fix just about every issue in our lives today.

But after some research, I found these handy little Wi-Fi freezer thermometers.

Other than reading about Wi-Fi freezer thermometers, I don't know much about them other than that they monitor your freezer's internal temperature and alert you if something goes wrong.

Needless to say, I have one on order as we speak!
