Havre Woman Nearly Caused A Plane To Crash

A Havre Montana woman is facing a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison and a fine of up to $250,000 for interfering with an aircraft.

Tracy Lynn Eagleman, 36, also known as Tracy Badmoccasin, pleaded guilty to interfering with an aircraft in flight.

This follows an incident where Eagleman interfered with Cape Air Flight 1793.

Flight Incident Havre Montana

According to the court documents, Eagleman was a passenger on a small commercial flight that was traveling from Billings to Havre on March 21, 2023.

Roughly 10 miles from the landing, Eagleman became disruptive by standing up and shouting about the landing procedure, causing alarm among the flight crew and fellow passengers.

The flight crew was able to calm Eagleman down and got her back to her seat.

Eagleman unexpectedly lunged toward the flight controls as the plane was about to touch down on the runway.

She hit one of the throttle controls, which caused one of the plane's engine to accelerate.

This rapid acceleration caused the plane to veer on the runway.

The aircraft was traveling around 70 to 75 knots, or approximately 80 miles an hour when it veered on the runway due to the throttle acceleration.

The flight crew was able to regain control quickly, which prevented the plane from crashing.

Eagleman remains detained pending further legal proceedings.
