
Smash and Grab Thieves Hit Parts of Great Falls Recently
- Some residents in Great Falls recently awoke to find over 20 vehicles in the city had been broken into or had windows smashed
- The criminals targeted a specific area from west of the Missouri River between 2nd Ave NW and Alpine Dr
- GFPD is asking for assistance from residents in the area that may have noticed odd activity, may have video or have yet to discover damage or theft
Smash and Grab Thieves Hit Parts of Great Falls Recently
Recent criminal activity in Great Falls, Montana took a serious uptick when thieves and vandals hit parts of the Electric City on the night of July 29, 2025, into July 30th.
The Great Falls Police Department is reporting that over 20 vehicles as of now were damaged with cracked or broken windows and some theft of items in personal vehicles of residents in the area.

West of the Missouri River in Great Falls Hit the Hardest by Thieves
In a release through social media, GFPD announced that between the hours of midnight and 6am, thieves targeted vehicles in the area west of the Missouri River between 2nd Ave NW and Alpine Dr in Great Falls.

It is thought the perpetrator(s) may have used a pointed object in which to break windows on vehicles, however some reports indicate some were only cracked. Most of the break-ins involved theft including sunglasses, loose change and more.
GFPD Requesting Camera Footage or Eyewitness Reports from Residents
Law enforcement with the city is asking citizens to report any suspicious activity that they have noticed on the night in question. Lead investigator SPO Stergionis is asking for information from the public on:
- Do you have video surveillance that captured anything near the mapped locations?
- Did you see anything suspicious?
- Do you know who committed the crimes? Have you heard someone bragging about it?
