Montana Grizzly Bear Numbers are on the Rise Across the State Each Year
There was a time in Montana that spotting a grizzly bear in the wild took a trip to Glacier or Yellowstone National Parks. And even then, it was a pretty slim chance that you would have that unique opportunity.
Fast forward to today, and those bears are everywhere. Not just the mountains. Farmers and ranchers have reported them into the plains of Central Montana and even break country near the river.
Montana FWP Releases New Grizzly Bear Conflict Dashboard
To help farmers, ranchers and the general public become more "bear aware" about conflicts that are happening in Montana, the Montana Fish Wildlife and Parks are releasing the "Grizzly Bear Conflict Dashboard".

The dashboard will help "inform the public about just what kinds of conflicts Montanans are dealing with and where they’re happening" according to the press release. FWP Director Christy Clark stated that:
Managing grizzly bear conflicts continues to be a priority for our staff and the workload is increasing every year

How to Access the New Information from Montana Fish Wildlife and Parks
The new dashboard is available through the MFWP website here. It works in conjunction with the Grizzly Bear Mortality Dashboard released last year. Future plans include Relocation Dashboard available later this summer.
Currently the dashboard contains conflicts beginning in mid-June 2025. Previous conflicts will be added as time allows. Data is updated regularly, but MFWP reminds people that it isn't available until after the conclusion of a conflict. Data could be delayed several days due to the delay.
