Mastering Christmas – 10 Reasons Behind Why It’s So Hard

While the holidays are meant or even hoped to be the "happiest time of the year", for many it can be, well, quite frankly, the thing of nightmares.  I don't mean like thoughts of a bad Santa running around, but more on the lines of "there isn't enough time, my presents are terrible this year and I'm afraid I have under cooked the turkey and am poisoning everyone" type of stuff!

What is it that seems the most difficult?  According to a new survey online from the good folks at Tesco, there are 50 of those things that will make being a master of Christmas nearly impossible!  We've grabbed the top 10 of those and passed them on to you to see how many you have mastered so far.  Plus we've added a little reward at the end to brighten your day back up!  25 of the best over the top decorated homes across America to enjoy!

10)  Organization.  It's like trying to herd cats.  Will the flight arrive in time?  How are the  roads?  Did everyone get the correct directions and time to be here?

9)  Groceries.  The food bill can be one of the largest bills you incur during the holidays depending on your appetite and choice of meal.  How much?  Split with the family?  Multiple meals?  What about allergies in friends or relatives?  Who won't eat what?

8)  The Lights.  It never fails.  Every single year it never fails.  We can put a man on the moon, vehicles on Mars, but we can't find a way to keep these lights from tangling no matter how carefully they are put away every year.

7)  Cooking Dinner.  Once that food is bought, who is handling what?  Multiple people?  Just you and the elves?  What about where you are cooking?  Do you have enough oven space and time to have turkey, buns, casseroles, pies and more in your kitchen alone?

6)  Wrapping.  This is a skill.  I am not sure how one can acquire such a skill, but I do know I am lucky that my wife does 95% of the wrapping in our home.  How she finds the time to manage I have yet to figure out.  Keeping edges crisp, folds all exact and finishing it with handmade bows and tags.  Again, skill!

5)  Remembering The Grocery List.  Pro tip from yours truly, take a pen to cross off things.  You won't remember not grabbing something 3 aisles away that you didn't cross off until you arrived back home.  We won't even mention how many times that same yours truly has forgotten the list entirely on the kitchen counter.

4)  Buying great gifts.  We all look for that perfect gift to give to that special someone, or someone who has done the same for us and we want to show our gratitude back.  Remember that sometimes it isn't about the amount, but more about the thought and meaningfulness of the gift!

3)  Christmas Dinner.  All At ONCE!  This again is one of the skills that didn't make it into my DNA.  Watching someone be able to set everything on the table, piping hot or ice cold all at once, it truly is a Christmas miracle!

2)  Awkwardly Shaped Objects.  You know the type.  Zip tied into a box that even the sharpest of knives or pliers can touch, you attempt to wrap that object without putting it in a box the size of a refrigerator and filling it with bubble wrap to disguise just how bad you really are at wrapping anything that isn't a perfect square.

1)  The "What To Buy This Year" Game For Family.  Make a list for your family or even your friends!  Nobody likes guessing ALL the time!  Trying to figure out what everyone wants is at the top for a reason!
