Astounding Number of New Recruits with Montana Highway Patrol
As a native Montanan, it can still surprise me just how big our state really is. And once you leave the confines of the city streets, just how many miles of roadways there are to travel.
The Montana Highway Patrol prides itself on taking care of those roadways for incidents, safeguarding the lives, property, and constitutional rights of people traveling the ways of our State.
Over 5 million Miles Traveled by the Montana Highway Patrol Each Year
According to the MHP website, our troopers in the state of Montana do a lot of driving. Seriously. A lot of driving. Each year our state highway patrol officers travel over 5.5 million miles of state roadways.

Not only are they driving those miles, the troopers also:
- Respond to over 160,000 calls for service
- Issue more than 85,000 arrest tickets and more than 100,000 warning tickets
MHP also provide public safety education presentations on nearly every subject related to driving safety, including seatbelt use, driving under the influence and child safety.
MHP Announces 24 New Hires in 2025 for Montana Roadways
In a press release on January 8, 2025, the Montana Highway Patrol announced that 24 new recruits had made the commitment to join law enforcement in our state. MHP hasn't seen a hiring class this large in nearly a decade they said.

Most cadets for 2025 have already began classes and will be out protecting our roads later this year in 2025.
