New Movie to Feature Infamous Montana Mountain Man
In May of 1978 a package was left in the parking lot of a University of Illinois parking lot. It would explode, injuring a security guard in the process. It would also lead to 17 years of wondering when and where the next one would happen.
A new movie is coming about the infamous killer from Montana, and it may mean some pretty famous people hanging in the mountains of Big Sky Country.

Over those 17 years, from 1978 to 1995, the Unabomber would eventually be responsible for 23 injuries and 3 deaths with a nationwide bombing campaign.
Theodore "Ted" Kaczynski was arrested by the Federal Bureau of Investigation in April of 1996 on the outskirts of the small mountain town of Lincoln, Montana. He was taken into custody at his 10' x 14' cabin nestled within the mountains.

Authorities would find a multitude of evidence in the cabin including:
- bomb components
- 40,000 handwritten journal pages that included bomb-making experiments and descriptions of Unabomber crimes
- one live bomb, ready for mailing.
Kaczynski plead guilty to the crimes presented by authorities in January 1998 and was sent to an isolated cell in a “Supermax” prison in Colorado. He passed in 2023 while in incarceration.
New Movie Coming from Netflix About the Unabomber Coming to Montana
Netflix has announced a new movie about the Unabomber, and they are bringing in some pretty big star power to make it happen.
The new film, entitled "Unabom" is set to star high power actor Russell Crowe, along with rising star Jacob Tremblay. The film will also star Shailene Woodley and Annabelle Wallis.
The film will follow Kaczynski's "transformation from Harvard prodigy into the infamous Unabomber". Filming is currently underway for the film, but a release date has not been made public. More information can be found about the film here.
