Red Lodge Home to Unique Food Party in Montana
A Plethora of Heritage Food Across the State of Montana for Your Palette
Depending on where in the state of Montana you grew up or are living, heritage foods have probably been a part of your upbringing and maybe even continue today at your dinner table.
In my little neck of the woods in central Montana, the Scandinavian heritage foods were everywhere. Staple items like lefse, Brun lapskaus stew, and yes, even the occasional lutefisk made it to our table.
Italian Tradition Once Popular in Red Lodge Hits the Internet
A recent post via social media mentioned a favorite dish that was once popular in Red Lodge and it made me ponder why I hadn't seen one of these before. The item in question is an Italian dish by the name of Bagna Cauda.

According to Wikipedia, banga cauda is an "Italian dish described as a hot dish made with garlic, anchovies, red wine, and extra virgin olive oil. The dish is served and consumed in a manner similar to fondue, sometimes as an appetizer, with raw or cooked vegetables typically used to dip into it."

Were You Part of the Big Parties for These in Red Lodge?
While the dish sounds decent, a part of the description via social media also had me thinking of days gone by when people got together just for some food and conversation. Apparently, parties were held to enjoy this dish back in the day. You can see the full post via Facebook here.
