What’s the Best Thermostat Setting for Montana Winters?
Control of the household temperature always seems to fall to one person in the home. And it is generally the dad that has a constant reign over where it should be set on any given day, month, or season of the year.
But where is that perfect temperature, especially when winter decides to make an appearance. And then decide to stick around for the next few weeks. Or months. There are even more considerations when it comes to where to set your thermostat, including your pets.

What's the Best Thermostat Setting for Montana Winters?
Personal preference aside, there are a few temperature ranges that can help keep the house at a decent temperature, but maybe not burn the pocketbook firing up each time. Most experts agree that keeping your thermostat around 68F is where most furnaces are optimal.

Naturally, the closer the gap between indoor and outdoor is best, but in Montana and at 15F above or below, that really isn't possible. Despite possible savings in the long run; by lowering your temperature too much, (even at night) you could risk frozen pipes in your home. They need at least 50F to 55F before you will have an all-new problem to deal with.
Don't Forget About Fluffy and Fido - Or Your Plants in Your Home
It isn't just the pipes or your toes that you should take into consideration. Your pets like to stay warm also. Most pets need around 64F to remain comfortable and not chilled. Don't forget about your green friends on the shelf either.
Depending on the plant(s), most of them would prefer the temperature not get below 60F in the house. (Oddly, they do much better than I do when it comes to the cold. I'm in a small room with a small heater writing this, and my thermostat is at 72. Doh! Maybe I should put a sweatshirt on.) What is your perfect temperature?
