How The Fisher Price Phonograph Sparked A Love For Radio
I was reading the internet today and I came across an article on Townsquare's Ultimate Classic Rock about toys from the 70's and 80's. The article was fun, but it's the first picture in the gallery that got me writing. I had to share this with you because it was such an important toy in my life.
It Was At A Young Age I Started Announcing Records
I don't know exactly when I got that record player, but I can tell you that it was AFTER Shawn Cassidy released Da Do Ron Ron. That was the very first record I ever introduced. Of course it wasn't on a big radio station, KTAM, based at Rural Route 2 in Choteau, Montana. My studio was this Fisher Price Phonograph and my mom's brush. It was perfect.

I don't know how many times I introduced that song, probably, at least a thousand. It was glorious because I loved that song and Shawn Cassidy so much. He was just sooooo dreamy. It's one of my fondest childhood memories.
Who knew it was a sign of things to come?
I Sure Wish I Still Had That Record Player
I looked it up on line after I read the article, and I found some Fisher Price Phonographs that were around $30 or so. I also found some on E-Bay that are selling for just under $500.
Wow. I sure wish I still had that little 45 player. Of course, I don't think I could sell it. It would probably be in my studio at the radio station. Now I want one SO BAD.
