DOGE Cutting $6 Million Dollar Grant To Maureen And Mike Mansfield Center

The Mansfield Center at the University of Montana has been notified that the Pentagon is cutting a grant valued at over $6 million. The grant helps funds programs that support democracy and civics education through the university at the Mansfield Center.

What Was The Grant Used For?

• K-12 teacher training for integrating civics into curriculum
• Research aimed to identify best practices for advancing civic engagement skills, including a 2 week event in DC designed to unite rural and urban youth with civics. Ryan Zinke participated last summer

What Is Expected To Happen At U of M Due To The Cuts?

Its believed that the University of Montana will be eliminating staff due to the cut.
