In 2021 Dollar Tree Raised Their Prices For The First Time Since 1986
Where were you when the dollar store became the dollar twenty five store?
Ok, so maybe not that traumatic, but it hasn't been too long since Dollar Tree raised their prices. Honestly, it didn't bother me at all. They hadn't raised prices in over 30 years. Seemed pretty fair.

What I did worry about is once they popped that raising-the-prices cork, would they just keep doing it?

Prices At Dollar Tree Will Go Up To A Minimum Of $1.50 By The End Of 2025
In their Q4 2023 earnings call, Dollar Tree announced the price hike. Not only that, but various items in the DOLLAR store will sell for up to $7.
This year, across 3,000 stores, we expect to expand our multi-price assortment by over 300 items at price points ranging from $1.50 to $7," Dollar Tree CEO Rick Dreiling
Dollar Tree says they aren't raising prices due to inflation. But they also say this on their website:
"In the midst of unprecedented inflation, Dollar Tree recently changed its primary price point to $1.25 in order to continue to offer our customers all the products they’ve come to know and love, plus hundreds of new ones, and to bring back customer favorites at an incredible value."
Hmmm.
Maybe tariffs? Pure greed?
Great Falls, Montana Has A Strange Dollar Tree Situation
I go to the Dollar Tree fairly often.
On one side of town, there is a Dollar Tree that's a joy to shop in. It's clean, bright and they have a pretty great selection of everything every single time I go in.

Then there's the one on the other side of town. It's borderline scary in there. It's dirty and poorly stocked. Even though it's super convenient, I rarely use that Dollar Tree anymore.
Will You Still Go To The Dollar Store When It's The $1.50 Store?
All in all, you're still getting a decent deal.
The only thing I'll say is it's virtually THE SAME deal that you can get in the bargain sections at Target, Walmart, and the like, without running all over town burning up gas.
