We are heading into the holiday season and with that, in Montana comes the travel season. Traveling in Montana in the fall and winter can be enjoyable, but it can also be treacherous. There are the roads, the weather and the other drivers to contend with. Even though it is difficult to give a pinpoint forecast in Montana for what we can expect. Here is what we can expect for Mid-November and Thanksgiving according to the Farmers' Almanac.

  • 12th - 15th
    Very unsettled Rockies, points east.
  • 16th - 19th
    Fair, cold.
  • 20th - 23rd
    Light snows in Rockies, points east for the holiday.
  • 24th - 27th
    Fair, cold, then turning stormy; a heavy snowfall into NE-Dakotas area.
  • 28th - 30th
    Clearing skies. Blustery, colder.

Will Montana ever get to the point where our vehicles won't need snow tires anymore?

My vehicles aren't there yet. I live on a hill and for me not only are snow tires a necessity, but I need studs on two of my vehicles that are front-wheel drives.
