New Housing Development Underway Near ZooMontana
A new housing project is underway on Billings' West End.
Perhaps you've noticed the heavy equipment moving dirt for infrastructure at the south end of Shiloh Drive, near ZooMontana. I stopped to grab a couple of quick pictures last week, pondering what the development might be.
"It's probably another shopping center," I thought, "with a mandatory bank, casino, coffee shop, and car wash." As common as these new businesses are around Billings, why not add a few more, right? It turns out, my hunches were wrong.
The project is a residential development that will feature 126 living units comprised of duplex and four-plex townhomes. According to the City of Billings planning department, the development has been called South Shiloh Townhomes during the review process, although the future name of the neighborhood may change.
A great spot for housing.
Billings continues to expand westward and this development seems like an attractive area for multi-family housing. Costco and ZooMontana are within walking distance. The location provides quick access to I-90 and there are hundreds of options for shopping and dining within easy reach along the Shiloh corridor.
Will they be "affordable"?
Affordable is relative, of course. New construction is almost always more expensive than existing homes and this is a desirable location. Depending on square footage and finish details, prices on these new townhomes will likely be comparable to other newer-built townhomes currently for sale in Billings.
