A New Threat In Montana You Should Know About

I really hate to be the bearer of bad news, but someone has to be the messenger when a new danger appears.

Have you heard about "jugging?" If not, we've got information on what it is and how to protect yourself from being a victim of a jugging attack.

What Is Jugging And Why Is It Dangerous?

What Is Jugging?

First let's talk about what jugging is and then we'll talk about how to prevent it from happening to you.

There are 3 things that criminals do when jugging:

  • Observe: Watching people making cash withdrawals or major cash purchases
  • Follow: Track the victim to their next location (work, home, parking lot)
  • Steal: Either break into their car or steal from them face to face

If you think of jugging almost like mugging you've got a good idea of what is happening here, the only difference is the observing part and not randomly picking someone to mug.

This is such a problem the FBI has information about this rising crime on their website.

  • Always be aware of your surrounding, especially around banks and stores
  • Never leave anything of value in your car
  • Break up your patterns, don't take the same way home or to work once you've made a deposit or a large withdrawal
  • Always report any suspicious looking people or activity to your local police
