Montana Activities With The Highest Risk Of Lightning Strikes

The National Lightning Safety Council has a wealth of information on their website when it comes to lightning and the dangers lightning brings.

It turns out that of the twelve activities that see the most fatal lightning strikes in America, residents of Montana do quite often.

Things like fishing, boating, farming, and ranching, along with camping and golfing, all have the highest rate of fatalities over the last 20 years of data tracking.

The Montana Town Where Lightning Strikes Most Often

The odds of you being struck by lightning in Montana aren't high, but they aren't exactly zero either.

Montana currently ranks #16 when it comes to your chance of being struck by a lightning bolt that kills you.

That said, since the National Lighting Safety Council started tracking this data in 2006, there have only been 5 fatal deaths by lightning here in Montana.

The last one happened back in 2020, as a 65-year-old female was walking down the road in Glendive when lightning struck her.
