Hiding your valuables is a pretty important thing to do, but sometimes you can get too clever and put them in the first place a burglar is going to look.
Montana Crime Rates Are Dropping — But Stay Smart
One good thing to get into before we reveal what places to NOT hide your valuables is that your chances of being a victim of a crime are dropping.
According to the Montana Board of Crime Control, 2024 saw less crime than in 2023.
Auto theft dropped from 2,140 offenses in 2023 to 1,848 in 2024.
Larceny went from 17,488 counts in 2023 to 15,923 for 2024.
Finally, burglaries in Montana also went down in 2024, as there were a total of 1,815 offenses, which was down from the 1,934 offenses in 2023.
