How We Got The List Of Most Played Songs
In the industry, we utilize a site called Mediabase, which tracks thousands of radio stations across America and tracks how many times a station plays a song each week.
At the end of the year, they put out a list of the most played songs on the radio from that year.
Sadly, the data only goes back to 2001, which, crazily enough, was the first year I started doing nights at K99.
As you take a trip down memory lane with me, you might be surprised that some of the biggest hits of the year weren't from the biggest artists.
