When people think of extreme weather in Montana there is really only one thing that comes to mind, blizzards. No one in Montana bats an eye when the forecast predicts a potential for snow that totals in the feet. Nothing, however, prepared me for the photos and videos I saw scrolling Facebook today.

Montana can experience more than just blizzards, in fact we have multiple earthquakes a day. As of this writing there were 13 over the last 7 days.

Of course plenty of people are worried about the so called Yellowstone Super volcano, though that isn't really an extreme weather scenario.

In regards to tornadoes, we aren't exactly tornado alley, but tornadoes do happen in Montana. There was the big one in Billings back in 2010 that happened on Father's Day. It also might surprise some to find out just how many tornadoes a year we actually have.

A tornado over the mountains though?! You have got to be kidding me. That's why these photos were so jaw dropping to me when I came across them on my Facebook feed.

Lisa Hendrickson was able to document, in my opinion, a once in a lifetime occurrence.

I mean how many times are you going to be able to say you saw a tornado over the mountains? I have a feeling just once, and I'm not sure I want it to become a regular thing.
