Everyone knows Montana is famous for it's wildlife. People come from all over the world to marvel at the incredible creature's our state has to offer. It seems like we can't go an entire year without some overly curious (and brazen) tourist making the headlines when they get too close to a wild animal in one of our state parks. Usually these stories don't have a happy ending- with someone ending up mauled, gored, or even worse.
Bison, grizzly bear, elk and wolf sightings are at the top of everyone's Montana wildlife experience bucket list. It's also usually these animals that are responsible for the tragic encounters we read about in the news each year during tourist season. However, Montana is home to wide variety of wildlife. While we our most famous animal, our state animal the Grizzly bear, is most commonly associated with our state, many of our unique- and more benign animals, don't often make the headlines. Yet these beautiful and wild creatures are still worth looking for next time you are out exploring the outdoors.
