What Are The Rules For Naming Your Baby?
When it comes to naming your baby, you might not be aware that some states have certain rules and requirements.
Some states, like Alabama, let you give your child any first or last name, even if it doesn't match the mother or father. Other states like Minnesota have a character limit of 150 for baby names, which means John Jacob Jingleheimer Schmidt is fair game.
As for the rules here in Montana, outside of the three banned names we're about to show you, there are no other rules. However, if you want to use symbols in your baby's name, you have to wait for the birth certificate to arrive, fill it in, and then send it back for official approval, according to The Bump.
