El Vaquero Taqueria: Montana’s Best Taco Destination
Found on the corner of Roberts and 11th Ave. in Helena this best-known "hole-in-the-wall" restaurant is also the home to the best tacos in the Treasure State, as LoveFood had this to say about El Vaquero Taqueria:
This humble lunch-only spot in Helena has earned a cult following for its no-frills, flavor-packed street tacos. The carnitas variety is the standout – slow-cooked, tender pork is piled into double corn tortillas and topped with fresh cilantro, onions, and a squeeze of lime. Each bite is rich, juicy, and deeply satisfying. With picnic tables out front and a steady line of loyal fans, this tiny taqueria is a must-visit. Other favorites include carne asada, al pastor, and lengua, all served with the same authentic, no-nonsense flair.
If you plan on eating here, make your plans accordingly, as they are only open for 3 hours a day (11a-2p) and only from Tuesday through Friday.
