We have all heard the so-called advice that comes with winter. Your parents said it, your grandparents repeated it, your neighbors swear by it, and there is always that one guy at work who claims he read it somewhere.
When winter sticks around as long as it usually does here, those myths start to feel like facts. After a while, nobody even questions them anymore.
A big reason they have lasted so long is because they sound reasonable. Most of them feel like common sense, but repeating something over and over does not magically make it true.
Cold Weather Myths Montanans Still Believe Today
These myths cover everything from how you should dress in cold weather to what you should do to stay warm in an emergency.
What is interesting is that some of them likely started out as real advice. Over time, though, they got mixed up with half-truths and bad info, and now we are left believing the wrong thing.
