A January That Felt Nothing Like Winter In Montana

We are only one month into 2026, and I have to say, that was one of the weirdest Januaries I can remember here in Montana.

We barely saw any snow, temperatures hardly dipped below freezing, and now the extended forecast is hinting that February might keep the strange streak going. For a state that usually knows winter pretty well, this one has felt way off.

What The Farmer’s Almanac Says About Spring In Montana

According to the old Farmer’s Almanac, spring, which officially starts in March, is expected to bring a lot of rain to Montana.

Honestly, that might be some welcome news. With how little snow we have seen this winter, anything that helps heading into fire season this summer is probably a good thing.

So while it has been a wild start to the new year, it does not look like the weather is done surprising us yet. Still, this is Montana, and strange weather is nothing new around here.
