Montanans Beware: This Store's Gift Cards Are Worthless Now
Some people look at gift cards as a gift without any thought, but I disagree; they know you like that store but weren't sure what to get from it, so this was the next best thing.
Sadly, if you have any gift cards from a popular store with locations in 7 Montana, you are out of luck, as according to their FAQ page, they are no longer accepting them.

Popular Store Closures Leave Montana Shoppers Stuck with Useless Gift Cards
By now you probably all know that JOANN Fabric is closing all 7 of their of their stores in Montana and across America.
It's left plenty of quilters and crafters scrambling on where to get their fabric and supplies, since JOANN was an industry leader in that regard.
It's also left a bad taste in many customers mouths after they found that the gift cards they possessed were no longer valid or would not be accepted.
From Valid to Worthless: How This Gift Card Policy Changed Overnight
Talk about whiplash; here's a timeline of the mess that is the gift card redemption at JOANN Fabrics, from their FAQ page.
Jan 20th—"Q: Can I still use my JOANN gift card?"
We are currently accepting gift cards. However, as of the Petition Date, the Company will cease sales of all gift certificates and gift cards. A lot depends on the outcome of the court-supervised sale process and our policy may be updated as we progress through this process. We will provide updates if there are changes to our policy.
Then on Feb 12th the answer to that same question was the following according to archived webpages.
As of January 15, 2025, the Company has ceased sales of all gift certificates and gift cards. We are currently accepting gift cards for in-store purchases. Gift cards are NOT being accepted on our website.
Then just 8 days later, on Feb 20th,
JOANN will not be accepting returns at this time.
Finally, it was updated 2 days later and published the following:
All JOANN stores will be accepting gift cards through February 28.
The fact that it changed so often and was never on the front page of the website has left some JOANN fans upset that when they showed up to the store, they were informed their cards were worthless.
Sadly, this might become a reoccurring theme in 2025 as plenty of businesses look to shut their doors in the coming year.
