When The Big Sky Turns Dark: Horror Finds A Home In Montana

As someone who doesn't watch a lot of horror movies, I can't explain why it is that once the weather gets a bit cooler, I just want to be scared.

With that in mind, I was starting to put together a list of horror movies I'd like to watch this October and wondered what horror movies were set in Montana.

Montana Makes A Perfect Setting For Horror Films

Montana might not be the first place people think of when it comes to horror movies, but there have been some really scary movies set under the Big Sky.

In fact, there is a new horror movie coming to theaters very soon that was actually filmed by an assistant professor at Montana State University.

The film "Good Boy" was a passion project by Ben Leonberg, filmed over the course of nine months. It stars his own dog in a poltergeist-style movie that plays up the eeriness of when your pets stare or bark at what appears to be an invisible presence.

Montana Horror Movies: A Redditor’s Creepy Compilation

So while Good Boy won't be on the list this year, depending on how well it does at the box office, it could make the list next year.

A big thanks goes out to Geek-Haven888, a user on Reddit who compiled our list by using IMDB. Remember, these movies are set in Montana but not necessarily shot in Montana.
