McDonald's recently brought back their popular Monopoly game that gives customers the chance to win insane prizes including a $1 million grand prize.

Here's the thing though: it sounds fun and dare I say delicious but I feel like it's pretty bold of McDonald's to bring this game back being that its dark history has been well documented... literally.

McDonald's Monopoly: Giving Montanans Dreams Of Becoming An Instant Millionaire

Growing up as a kid in the late 80s/90s, the McDonald's Monopoly game was something to be excited about.

Not only do you get those delicious golden fries, but you get a Monopoly "game piece" that gives you the hope of winning a million dollars. Now, obviously I wasn't old enough to win back then but it still sparked a lot of fun "what if" convos as I devoured my burger and fries with my dad.

Fast-forward to adulthood and I was shocked to learn that a part of my childhood was an absolute lie: the game was rigged.

Is The McDonald's Monopoly Game Worth It For Montanans?

I love a good documentary that pulls back the curtain on pop culture subjects we used to all know and love. Not that long ago, I came across a documentary on HBO Max called "McMillion$" that reveals the game was rigged throughout the 90s and early 2000s.

In the doc, we learn that winning game pieces were stolen before being "sold" to people willing to get in on the fix. The winner would then fork out additional payments to the game piece dealer once they started receiving money.

The documentary shows how the FBI cracked the case and their hunt for those responsible. The folks behind the documentary even interview a McDonald's higher-up who was involved in the FBI investigation, ultimately helping bring the perps to justice.

This documentary is still out and readily available to watch, which has me thinking how bold it is of McDonald's to bring the game back with that info out there.

Today, most of the game is done digitally and has digital game pieces. The physical game pieces are laminated and clearly have different ways to prevent them from being duplicated or counterfeited.

But, what do you think? Is it worth playing a game that has been known to be fixed and has an entire 6-episode documentary about how it was? Share your thoughts with us HERE.
