Montana’s most notorious serial killers all had one thing in common. What is it?

As you read through this story you will begin to see what all the serial killers with Montana ties have in common.

Carl Panzram

He confessed to killing 22 people across the United States.  His crimes started as early as 1906 in Butte.  His murders involved rape.  He even killed a guard at a reform school in Montana.  He was executed in 1930.

Douglas Turner

Turner murdered three members of a family in Glendive in 1987.  He murdered six more during a 1991 prison riot in Deer Lodge.  He killed himself in prison  back in 2003.

William Gollehon

Gollehon was also in on that 1991 prison riot in Deer Lodge.  He killed a woman and was sentenced to life in prison in 1986.  He was then part of the riot at the state Prison in Deer Lodge in 1991, where he and Turner (pictured above)  killed six inmates including at least one with a baseball bat.   Gollehon is one of only two that is currently on death row in Montana.

Wayne Nance

Nance may be better known as the Missoula Mauler.  He reportedly killed at least six people in and around Missoula in the 70's and 80's.  He was from Missoula and Attended Sentinel High School.  He was shot to death in 1986 by a man he tried to stab to death after raping his wife.  He died before any trials on the six suspected murders.  Below is Nance with a woman who was later  an alleged victim.

Ted Kaczynski

We can't leave Ted off the list.  He was the unabomber and lived in a little shack in Lincoln.  He did kill three people with his homemade bombs.  He's serving life in prison in Colorado.

And what do they all have in common?  They are all men.
