First off, Bob may disown me for this article, but for the good of the order, it's a risk I'm willing to take.

Needless to say, I'm always looking to the world around me for article ideas.

What's happening in the community, online, or even here at the station?

And more often than not, I'll be minding my own business when BAM! An idea hits me.

That moment for me was on Wednesday.

I had just finished producing the news, opened the door to KMON, and there was Bob, with papers from one end of the counter to the other.

For reference, this is what the studio typically looks like...

And this is Bob's side... PAPER!

The idea hit me; the folks at home likely have no idea when Bob and I roll into the station or what we do when we're not on the air.
Boom, article idea.

My Day In Radio

I get to the studio sometime between 3:30 and 4:00 a.m.

First, I load the daily programs into the computer, USDA news, Money News, etc.

Then, I begin to compile the news.

Some days, this is easier than others.

Once the report is written, I record five versions for our FM and AM Stations.

Once that's done, I move on to my articles for the day.

Bob's Day In Radio

Bob usually gets in around 4:15 a.m.

He starts his day with sports, pulling sound bits, the latest scores, etc.

If you listen to the KMON morning show, you know all about the Daily What's Up segment.

This also takes a tremendous amount of time to get ready.

We both work on plenty more after the show, but I'll save that for a different article.
