Should You Worry About Rattlesnakes In Montana Water?
When it comes to snakes under the Big Sky, we are pretty lucky since we don't have to worry too much about venomous ones.
The only venomous snake found in Montana is the Prairie Rattlesnake, not that you shouldn't take precautions to avoid them.
Thankfully you won't have to worry much about running into rattlesnakes while enjoying the many lakes found in the Treasure State.
Snakes To Watch For This Summer In Big Sky Lakes
A-Z Animals, a fun website for animal facts, says that there are only 3 "semi-aquatic" snakes living in Montana, and they are all garter snakes.
- Common Garter Snake
- Plains Gartersnake
- Terrestrial Gartersnake
While A-Z Animals claims these are the only "semi-aquatic" snakes in Montana, longtime residents will tell you that rattlers are known to enjoy a cooling dip from time to time.
So if you are scared of snakes and don't want to run into them while enjoying the day on the lake, then keep away from the following lakes found in the gallery below.
