Store Closures Mean Less Places To Shop in Montana

2024 seems to be the year that companies are just throwing in the towel and closing up shop.

We're not talking about Mom and Pop stores either, as big-name brands and long-standing institutions of American corporations are suddenly no more.

Montana Could See Another Store Leave The State

One of the biggest news stories lately when it comes to store closings is that Big Lots closed down their stores in both Great Falls and Helena.

It was also announced earlier that Macy's will be closing around 150 stores by the end of 2026, which could mean the only store located in Bozeman might be on the chopping block.

There are other economic impacts that all these store closures have on Montana residents besides just a lack of shopping.

Store Closures In Montana Also Means Lost Jobs

While it might be sad we have fewer places to shop in brick and motor locations, it's also tragic in the amount of people who will be out of a job.

While online shopping makes things convenient and easy for us in the more rural areas, those that have lost their jobs won't be able to just pick up and move to a new city or state to work in a fulfillment warehouse.

So far there are no confirmed locations of what stores Macy's will be closing, but as you'll see in the gallery below, it's not the only store closing locations that will affect us here in Montana.
