Montana’s Wild Secrets Revealed in PBS’s New Documentary
Growing up in rural South Dakota in the early 80's meant I had 4 TV channels: ABC, CBS, NBC, and PBS.
I watched countless hours of PBS as a kid and still enjoy their programming today, including a new program that highlights life in the mountains here in Montana.

A New PBS Nature Documentary Set In Montana
Titled "Willow: Diary of a Mountain Lion," this PBS Nature documentary gives us, the viewers, an insight into the lives of the wildlife we live next too.
Willow is a mountain lion that researchers were able to track for over a decade in the western mountains in Montana.
Willow, along with the other animals you'll see, lives inside the Sapphire Mountains, where researchers have placed over 200 motion-activated trail cameras in various places, giving viewers a front-row seat into their lives.
Real Montana Wildlife Captured On Camera
The fact we were able to follow along with Willow for a decade is wonderful, but what's even more amazing is the drama that unfolds in nature.
Not to spoil too much of the documentary, but Willow becomes orphaned before her second winter, and that's just the beginning of her story.
A Rare Glimpse Into Montana’s Wild Side
This isn't a documentary about just mountain lions, though; thanks to these trail cameras, we get so many never-before-seen moments with elk, foxes, and grizzlies.
It’s incredible to think that we share this wild, rugged state with so many amazing creatures, but their lives are hidden from us. This documentary gives us that rare glimpse into their lives, made so much sweeter by the fact that it's right here in our own backyard.
