Are you ready for Thanksgiving?  Better yet,  are you ready to pay a hell of a lot more for that Thanksgiving dinner?  The average Thanksgiving turkey is expected to cost 23% more than it did just last year. Just last month a pound of turkey was sitting at $1.72 a pound and that is expected to increase.  That's up $.30 a pound in a year.  They say it's because some flocks have been hit by the bird flu.  But it also has to do with how much more it costs to fatten up the turkey and ship it to you.

How about the costs of the other staples used on turkey day.  Eggs are up over 32%, Butter is up 26% and flour is up 17%.  Those are some whopping numbers.  Just last month a pound of turkey was sitting at $1.72 a pound and that is expected to increase.  YIKES!!!

Here is  suggestion for Thanksgiving.  How about switching it up.  Maybe try putting some different meats on the table.  Maybe some that won't cost as much.  Heck, from what I read about the first ever Thanksgiving, turkey wasn't even on the table.  They most likely had goose, duck, pigeon, corn and maybe even some seafood like clams and even lobster.  Another idea could be to buy just turkey legs or a turkey breast instead of a full bird.

Here are two more things you could do.  Order pizza and sit back and watch some football.  Or, if you are a family of four it might even be cheaper to just go out for a turkey dinner.  There are several restaurants that will be serving turkey and all the trimmings on Thanksgiving.
