FDA Warning To Montana Parents: Get Rid Of This Baby Formula NOW!
A New Year, And A New FDA Recall
Another recall from the FDA is not exactly how we wanted the new year in Montana to start off.
If you are a parent of a young one who drinks formula, you are definitely going to want to pay attention to this recall.
This latest recall was a voluntary recall by the makers themselves, which is in my opinion always a good thing.
A company that does not have to have the federal government come in and say their product could potentially harm their client to issue a recall should be commended.
That is exactly what Reckitt/Mead Johnson Nutrition did on December 30th of last year with one of their baby formula products.
Serious Issues Can Arise From Using This Popular Baby Formula
The reason for the recall was due to the possibility of contamination with Cronobacter sakazakii.
What is Cronobacter sakazakii?
Well according to the FDA,
Cronobacter bacteria can cause severe, life-threatening infections (sepsis) or meningitis (an inflammation of the membranes that protect the brain and spine). Symptoms of sepsis and meningitis may include poor feeding, irritability, temperature changes, jaundice (yellow skin and whites of the eyes), grunting breaths and abnormal movements. Cronobacter infection may also cause bowel damage and may spread through the blood to other parts of the body.
To see what products have the potential to cause these infections check out the gallery below and keep your and your young one safe in the new year.
