Sleep Experts Warning: Montanans Need To Stop Fans At Night
Why Montana Nights And Fans Don’t Mix
As much as I love summer in Montana, the older I get, the less I enjoy the days when temperatures get close to triple digits.
Thankfully today we've got air conditioners and fans to cool us off, but experts say we shouldn't use fans while we sleep.

Experts Warn Montanans: Don’t Sleep With The Fan On
How many of you out there have a ceiling fan in your bedroom?
For those of you that do have one, do you leave it on all night long while you're sleeping?
Turns out if you do, it's actually really dangerous and has some pretty adverse effects on your health as well.
Mattress Next Day, a mattress delivery company website, talked to some sleep experts, and it is their professional opinion that you turn your fan off at night, but why?
5 Surprising Health Risks Of Sleeping With A Fan On Overnight
Well according to them there are 5 big reasons why you shouldn't sleep with your fan on, which are as follows:
- It can trigger allergens and asthma
- It can make you congested
- It can give you dry eyes and cause irritation
- It can cause coughing fits in the night
- It can cause a stiff neck or sore muscles
That last reason really piqued my interest, and they go on to say this about it:
If you have any pre-existing muscle pains, perhaps from working out or from improper posture whilst working at a desk, you should refrain from directing the electric fan on this area throughout the night. This is because the concentrated cool air can make your muscles tense and cramp up, causing you even more pain.
I don't know if these "experts" are full of it or what, but if you just started using a fan and noticed any of these symptoms, maybe take their advice and stop using it.
