Montana Has a New Champion – Athletic Prowess in the Arena
As summer is under way, so is enjoying one of the biggest pastimes under the Big Sky. Starting in June, the Dusty Gliko Bull Riding event starts of a chain of rodeos across Montana. Belt, Augusta, Lincoln, Stanford and more towns across the region roll out the red carpets for cowboys and cowgirls to test their skills against the best stock to see who the next champion will be, maybe even a world champion.
Many A Kid Has Grown Up in the Arena to Become a Champion
These rodeo athletes hone their skills and craft since first entering the ring at a young age. One of those is now a College Finals Rodeo Champion. This past week, Montana was represented by the Montana State Bobcat Rodeo Team at those finals, and our showing was nothing short of stellar. The Women's Team finished an impressive Reserve Champion, sending 8 ladies to the finals, the most of any school being represented.
Our New National Champion Bringing Home the Hardware
Congratulations to Paige Rassmussen, who is the latest champion to be crowned in Bobcat athletics. Paige brings home the national title in goat roping. But the accolades didn't stop with Paige. Her horse, Felix, won the AQHA horse of the year award. Paige will continue her career, but not in rodeo. She has accepted a scholarship opportunity with MIT in Boston, MA to study at the McGovern Institute for Brain Research. Paige also plans on continuing her education after that to become a doctor.
