What Is Montana's Most Dangerous City?

Crime is a subject that is constantly in the news and has been on the minds of lots of people in Montana.

It's never fun to discuss negative topics, but if we don't ever talk about them, how can we fix the problems?

Moving In Montana

When looking to move to or even visit a new city, it behooves one to do some research. Is there a good school? What amenities do they have? And most importantly, what is the crime like?

Recently, Truely put out their 100 Most Dangerous Cities list that had only 1 Montana city show up.

What about our neighbors?

There were no cities on the list for South Dakota, North Dakota, Wyoming, or Idaho. Which is good, but then a bit sad that Montana made an appearance at #79, but what city? If I gave you two guesses, I bet you could get the answer right.

Billings, MT

Yep, the most dangerous town in Montana is Billings. Truely said about the biggest city in the Treasure State.

Billings, MT has a crime rate of 55 per one thousand residents, making it one of the highest in the U.S. for both violent and property crimes. The city has a particularly high rate of motor vehicle theft, with a chance of getting your car stolen at one in 114.

According to Truely's list in Billings, you have a 1 in 100 chance of being a victim, and they have a violent crime rate of 9.9 per 1000 people. Far better than the #1 city, Bessemer, AL, which stood at a 1 in 30 chance of being a victim and a violent crime rate of 33.1 per 100 people.

Maybe there is a benefit to living where the winter air hurts your face.
