When it comes to recreational opportunities, Montana is full of them.  And for most of them, they can be enjoyed for free or even a nominal fee.  But some of the most coveted recreational opportunities are by permit.  Such as hunting or floating.

The Montana Fish Wildlife and Parks (MFWP) division has just announced new classes for those wishing to get a hunting license in the state and also have released who will receive one of the most sought after permits to float lazily down the Smith River.

Hunter's Education Classes Announced for Spring in Central Montana

Those looking to bag the big one in the Fall of 2026 and "born after January 1, 1985, must complete a hunter education course issued by Montana, any other state, or any Canadian province" according to the MFWP's website.

MFWP's Region 4 Office has more than 15 classes that are available now or coming soon during the spring training sessions.  To find one near you, use this link for your area.  MFWP recommends signing up soon, as classes fill quickly:

It's often easier to secure a seat in a spring class than it will be later in the summer, and especially in the fall classes as hunting season draws closer.
