We love finding interesting vacation rentals in Montana.

Perhaps you're thinking about a Montana getaway over Christmas break this year. Maybe something a little more unique than a hotel suite or your standard vacation rental condos, houses, and cabins. Today while browsing Airbnb, we found what we're calling a real-life snow globe, and as of 11/29, it is not booked over Christmas weekend.

Near Whitehall, MT the dome provides nearly 180-degree views.

We realize a snow globe technically has snow on the inside, but one can imagine staying in this adorable structure feels very much like being inside the classic holiday trinket.

Bring your steaks and lobster tails for the grill.

The smallish kitchen looks functional enough for cooking a basic holiday meal, especially if you plan properly. There does not appear to be an oven/stove, although the rental does come with a microwave, a toaster oven, a two-burner electric hotplate, and an outdoor BBQ, which would be great for grilling up that holiday prime rib while you enjoy the peacefulness of this winter retreat.

Ever slept in a dome home?

Dome homes intrigue me. The curved walls somehow seem soothing and comforting. This unit claims to sleep 8, with two bedrooms. From the pictures and listing descriptions, it appears there are two traditional beds plus two futons/couches that fold into beds in the living area. Eight people might be a little crowded, but for a couple or a family of four, it would be perfect.

Enjoy the silence and the snow.

Reviewers mention the rental is a little off the beaten path, providing plenty of peace and quiet. While it's usually accessible by two-wheel drive, we'd feel more comfortable taking an SUV or pickup, in case you encounter a snowstorm heading to or from the unique accommodations.

Rent a 4-wheeler while you're there.

The cozy dome home is situated in the Pipestone trail network which provides over 100 miles of exploring by ATVs and UTVs. If you book the dome, you can get 10% off a rental from nearby Ridgeline Adventures.

Soothe your achy muscles in the hot tub.

Imagine relaxing here after a day of exploring the area, perhaps with some snowflakes falling overhead or on clear nights watching for falling stars in the bright night sky overhead.

Hunker down or check out the surrounding area.

We feel like we'd not want to leave the intriguing globe home and would be perfectly content playing board games, reading a book, or enjoying the view from this quirky, round little home with its floor-to-ceiling front window.

If you want to venture out, the nearby community of Whitehall provides a handful of bars and restaurants, a grocery store, and other conveniences. Further down the road, there is plenty to explore in Butte. Pipestone Hot Spring is basically on-site. This Airbnb - with a 4.82-star review - is currently listed for $168 a night. We looked at three nights (12/23 - 12/26) and the total with a cleaning fee and Airbnb fee (but without taxes) came to $633. You can check it out HERE.
