Montana’s Most Quirky Landmarks Under The Big Sky

I grew up in South Dakota, which has plenty of tourist traps all along the state.

If you drive down I-90, it's impossible to miss ads for Wall Drug, or as you approach Mitchell, the Corn Palace.

How Odd Attractions Just Feel Like Home

I didn't think these places were strange or odd when I was younger, because they were just part of the fabric of growing up in South Dakota.

I'm sure plenty of people that grew up here in Montana have the same mindset about some of the more off-the-wall landmarks we have here under the Big Sky.

Thanks to World Atlas, here are 9 of the most bizarre landmarks to see across the Treasure State.

Before we dive into the list from World Atlas, I want to express my disappointment over a notable omission. I believe I'm not alone in thinking that this landmark might be the best-known among residents, so its exclusion feels unfortunate.

The Clearwater Junction Cow

I'm of course referring to the Cow at Clearwater Junction, which sits about 45 minutes east of Missoula, where Highway 200 and Highway 83 intersect.

9 Odd Montana Landmarks Worth Visiting

I've seen this cow referred to as the Statue of Liberty for western Montana, and it's hard to argue against that, so once again, to not have this as part of the list from the World Atlas website seems like a glaring omission.

With that out of the way, let's get to the 9 landmarks they did include by scrolling the gallery below.
