Where Does Montana Rank Among Richest States In America?
There are a lot of ways you can consider one to be rich, and it doesn't always have to be monetarily.
That said, today we are talking about being "rich" in a monetary way, and sadly Montana isn't very "rich."
The website HomeSnacks has come out with a way to determine how "rich" state is by using what the said was the "latest data on incomes, jobs, and poverty."
They used 3 different metrics to get their ranking and they are as follows,
- Poverty level
- Unemployment rate
- Median income
Before we reveal to you our states ranking, I'm going to tell you why I think we are ranked where we are, especially once you see where our neighbors rank.
Montana's Median Income Is Low
Our median income is only $60,560.
Only 11 states make less money than Montana residents do on a yearly basis.

That's not the only thing affecting our ranking.
Our poverty level in Montana is at 12.4% which ranks us #21 and puts us above the 11.7% national average.
There is some good news though, Montana's unemployment rate is 2.5% which is the 7th best right now, it's just we're all paid so low.

Montana Is The #28 Richest State In America
#28 isn't the worst by any means, but looking to our neighbors it's a bit sad to see us sticking out in that sea of blue.
All of those states around us have a higher median income that us and that's why they rank higher.
Granted money can't buy you happiness, but it sure can make life a bit less stressful.
