It's kind of weird to go searching for statistics on being murdered, but the internet never fails in that if you want something, more than likely someone out there has it for you.
I found the website entitled "Uncovered," which is a cold case website that has regular citizens try and help the professionals uncover information about cold cases.
They also have a database on all these murders, missing people, and suspicious deaths.
Murder Stats In Big Sky Country: What The Data Shows
Here are some of the stats that I was able to find on Uncovered in regards to your chances of being murdered in Montana.
Between 1980 and 2019, there were 1,303 murders in Montana, which averages to about 33 murders a year.
Next from Uncovered and also the FBI, we see that the murder rate per capita is about 2.5 per 100,000.
So your chances of being murdered in Montana are pretty low, and probably even lower when you think about living in some of the smaller and rural communities.
