How Much Will The New Tariffs Against Mexico Increase Pickup Prices?
Recently the finance minister for Mexico (Marcelo Ebrard) said that America would be “shooting itself in the foot” if the new administration follows through with their proposed tariffs of 25% on goods coming from Mexico.
That would include not just parts but also whole vehicles manufactured by American companies in Mexico.
Marcelo Ebrard said that American automakers told him that the proposed tariffs would end up costing their customers more as they'd need to raise prices by $3,000 to offset the costs. The increased cost on a new pickup truck aren't the only thing that these tariffs could cause.
These Tariffs Could Also Result In Job Losses For American Workers
The finance minister also noted that there is the potential to see almost 400,000 American jobs lost due to the auto industry's reliance on Mexican labor and manufacturing.
As of now, these proposed tariffs are nothing more than a threat to Mexico by the new administration in response to the flow of drugs coming from Mexico; it remains to be seen if they will go into effect next year or not.
However, if they should follow through with the threats, here are some more items that could see an increase due to the imposed tariffs.👇
