Scammers Reaching More People Than Ever

The Pressure Tactic That Traps Victims
Thanks to the internet, scammers can reach way more people than they ever could before. What used to take hours of phone calls or letters can now be done instantly with a few clicks.
That means some scams have become more technical, which can make them harder to spot.
One of the biggest tricks scammers use is pressure. They try to create a sense of urgency so you feel like you have to act right now. That panic is often what gets people in trouble.
Staying Safe Under The Big Sky
That is why one of the best defenses against scams is slowing down. Take a breath, look at what is being asked, and do not rush into anything.
Do not click links you do not recognize. Do not answer phone numbers you do not know. And never send money or personal information without double-checking who you are dealing with.
Montanans are good, trusting people, and scammers know that. They rely on you not taking a closer look at what they are saying.
So take a few minutes to look through some of the common scams affecting folks here under the Big Sky. Talk with friends and family about them too. The more we share this stuff, the better chance we all have at staying safe.
