Being a parent in 2025 isn’t for the weary. With technology, especially social media, parents have to be on their toes now more than ever. With every tap of the phone and click of a computer, our kids face a new danger in the form of anything and everything.

It’s enough to make anyone dizzy, especially when it comes to keeping up with social media challenges.

Now, parents all over Montana have another threat to keep on their radar.

The FBI Warns Montana Parents About "Violent Online Network"

The FBI is warning parents about a "violent online network" known as "764" that is targeting small children throughout America.

"These networks methodically target and exploit minors and other vulnerable individuals, and it is imperative the public be made aware of the risk and the warning signs exhibited by victims," the FBI said of the organization in a statement.

"These networks use threats, blackmail, and manipulation to coerce or extort victims into producing, sharing, or live-streaming acts of self-harm, animal cruelty, sexually explicit acts, and/or suicide. The footage is then circulated among members of the network to continue to extort victims and exert control over them."

Experts have described the organization as being “Satanic” based on certain warning signs in potential victims, like "writing in blood or what appears to be blood” - that’s terrifying!

As if that’s not bad enough, the feds also say parents should be on the lookout for signs like withdrawal, changes in appearance, routine habits, and even eating or sleeping habits.

The FBI is reminding parents to also look for signs of harm and even self-harm, especially if your child is trying to hide it.

Who Is "764" Targeting?

According to the FBI, the group known as “764” hunt for their victims on popular social media sites, gaming platforms, mobile apps, etc. Their primary targets appear to be young, underage females, according to the FBI, but are also targeting juveniles, adults, both male and female.

Parents, make sure to talk to your kiddos, especially if they’re online and playing games with unidentified strangers.
