Ask anyone what they know of Jimmy Buffett, and the answers will probably revolve around cheeseburgers in paradise, margaritaville, or parrotheads, if they even know who you are talking about to begin with.

Truth be told, I'm not the biggest Jimmy Buffett fan, so it was a surprise to me when I found out that he once wrote a song about a small Montana town.

Who Is Jimmy Buffet?

For those of you who don't know who Jimmy Buffett is or why it's surprising he wrote a song about Montana, here is just a little history about the performer.

He's best known for his tropical rock sound and island-escapism lifestyle. Most of his songs revolved around living an easy beach life and following your passions. His fans are called parrotheads, and they made him insanely rich, as he had a net worth of 1 billion dollars at the time of his death.

I found out that Jimmy wrote this song after reading this Reddit post.

Someone made the comment that their dad told them about "Ringling, Ringling," which was written about the small town of Ringling, Montana.

Here's a small snippet of the lyrics:

"Ringling, Ringling
Slippin' away
Only forty people, livin' there today
Streets are dusty and the bank has been torn down
It's a dyin' little town"
